KNOWLEDGE BASE / PHOTO CAPTURE

Add date and time to photos

A visible date and time can make a work photo easier to interpret without opening file metadata or checking another system.

Set the device clock

Conota relies on the phone’s system date, time and time zone. Keep automatic date and time enabled where possible.

If you travel between time zones, confirm that the device has updated before creating time-sensitive documentation.

Use timestamps consistently

Choose one timestamp style for a job or team rather than changing formats between photos.

Keep the timestamp readable but avoid covering important details in the image.

Visible timestamp vs metadata

A visible timestamp is easy for another person to see. File metadata can also contain capture time, but metadata may not remain intact after every export, messaging service or editing workflow.

Tip: test any new setup with one photo before using it across a live project.
