Built from engineering experience.
Conota was founded in Austria to solve a practical problem in field documentation: keeping useful context with every photo.
From engineering to software.
Michael built Conota from problems he knew first-hand. Before software, he worked on infrastructure and engineering projects in Scotland, Austria and Italy.
On site, a photo was rarely enough on its own. The useful part was knowing where it was taken, when, what it showed and which project it belonged to.
That became the idea behind Conota: capture the photo and the field context together, while the information is still in front of you.
Infrastructure work
Experience across road, water and civil engineering projects.
Engineering research
Research in water distribution networks, pressure control and energy recovery.
Hands-on product development
Michael remains directly involved in product and software development.
Published research
His academic work has been published in Applied Energy and by Springer.
A focused engineering team.
Conota is built by a dedicated engineering team focused on the product and the field workflows around it.
User feedback stays close to the people building the software, which helps the team diagnose issues and make practical improvements.
The same approach guides new features: look at how Conota is used in the field, then improve the parts that matter.
Field photos need context.
A phone camera captures the image. Field documentation also needs the project, location, time and notes that explain what the image relates to.
Conota keeps that information with the photo while work is being documented, so records are easier to review, sort and use later.
Used in field work worldwide.
Conota started as a practical GPS camera for field professionals. It has grown to more than five million downloads on Google Play and is also available on iOS.
It is used across construction, surveying, infrastructure, utilities, inspections and other field-based work. Business licensing is available for teams.
Conota remains independent and product-focused, with the aim of improving field documentation without adding unnecessary complexity.
